Candacy Taylor is the owner of Taylor Made Culture a company that produces multimedia projects that challenge common stereotypes of gender, race, and class. Taylor is an award-winning photographer, writer and cultural critic with a B.A. in Fine Arts from the San Francisco State University and a Master’s Degree in Visual Criticism from the California College of the Arts. She is the author of Counter Culture: The American Coffee Shop Waitress. Her work has been featured in over 30 publications including (partial list): Photographer's Forum (cover), The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle (cover - Arts section), The Wall St. Journal, USA Today, Ms. Magazine and AARP. Counter Culture is used as a teaching school in several universities and the exhibition made Southwest Airlines' top ten list of things to see in the US. Counter Culture was recently optioned by ABC for a TV series.

Taylor speaks at women’s, aging, and academic conferences throughout the US. She teaches workshops on developing multimedia projects, fundraising, and marketing strategies for artists. Taylor gave the Keynote address at the Oregon University Gerontology Conference and has conducted research and photography for the Library of Congress and National Geographic. She has received several grant awards for her work documenting diner waitresses and beauty shop culture. Her current projects are on Bingo culture and female bullfighters.
