Sprits of the Full Moon, 2009

James Hammons is interested in the space between the reality we perceive now, and the abstract we consider later. Utilizing a wide array of mixed mediums, James feels that capturing images in this precise energetic moment between “here” and “there”, offers the best insight into beauty, something James believes is what is most worth living for – the purpose in what would be otherwise a purposeless existence. From love, to death, and all in between, the miracle of perception is beauty, and, thus, James’ art.

James was educated at the University of Redlands, and went on to receive a Masters at the University of Southern California. He lives, and works, in Joshua Tree, California, and has exhibited in numerous galleries and private homes, from India, New York, England, Germany, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and especially his home town of Joshua Tree.
