Educated in the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, and Switzerland, Ellen Hill has developed a technique which distinctively identifies her work. Each piece is painted first in watercolour, cut apart, lacquered and reassembled to create a smooth amalgam of abstract shapes and representational imagery.

Her work has received many awards, been exhibited internationally and hangs in many public and private collections, including Boeing, Mitsubishi Bank, Seafirst Collection (B of A), GTE, Merrill Lynch, Digital Equipment Inc. among others.

Virgina Akins grew up surrounded by the beautiful textiles and embroideries that her mother and grandmother created. Her deep love and appreciation for textiles led her to a career in Fashion. When she began her own line, the fabrics that she longed for existed only in her own imagination.

The beauty of ancient textiles and the richness of Primitive Art inspire are an inspiration for her textile designs.
