Mike Fagan retired to the desert 8 years ago. Being an art pottery collector for nearly 30 years, he immediately took up potting as a hobby. Fagan eventually was drawn to the Native American methods of producing pottery. He collects natural clays and dune sand from the Mojave Desert. His pots are built by hand using the ancient “paddle and anvil” technique (basically a stick and a rock)... no potters’ wheel is ever used.He began photographing collecting sites and became fascinated with the raw beauty of the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park. His landscapes have sold through several local galleries…and have gathered awards at local contests.
