Shari Elf has converted an old Fotomat booth into what is now known as The World Famous Crochet Museum. The Museum's collection has grown into one of the quirkiest museums in the region, housing the handiwork of grandmothers, zany excesses of the 1960s crochet craze and more recent kitschy creations.
Elf, known for her own joyful art fashioned from trash and second-hand bric-a-brac, displays hundreds of crochet items bought, donated and found over the years, from crochet Oreos to Bert and Ernie to the crochet poodles that once hid Granny's liquor bottles. Bloggers and travelers have spread the word about the roughly 40-square-foot showcase of looped yarn and handmade Americana.
