SMITHS RANCH DRIVE IN PRESENTS:
IT'S A MAD, MAD, MADWORLD (1963)

A SPECIAL FEATURE FOR THE HWY 62 ART TOURS!!!

The madcap 1963 classic was released at the moment of the JFK assassination and just ahead of the British Invasion and perfectly reflects America at that last moment of relative innocence, featuring some of the biggest names in show business - Merman, Spencer Tracy- and comedy of the time: Milton Berle, Jonathan Winters, Mickey Rooney, Buddy Hackett, Syd Caesar, Phil Silvers, Terry Thomas, "Rochester" and my personal favorite, Dick Shawn, along with the great Peter Falk (Faces, Columbo, Wings of Desire).

After a long prison sentence Smiler Grogan (Jimmy Durante) is heading at high speed to a California park where he hid $350,000 from a job 15 years previously. He accidentally careens over a cliff in view of four cars whose occupants go down to help. The dying Grogan gives details of where the money is buried and when the witnesses fail to agree on sharing the cash, a crazy chase develops across the state.

This was the first feature at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. This event will sell out and establish a new paradigm for showing classic movies at one of the country's few remaining drive-in theaters. Just watch!
